Have you asked the question, “What is the most important thing in my life?” or, “What is most important to God regarding my life?” Sure, many of us have, and after surveying dozens of people, I found that family and God were usually at the top. What about the second most important thing? It’s only second, not tenth or fifth or even third, but it doesn’t seem to get much attention. However, if we read the Bible, we see that the second most important thing is eternally significant to God. The Bible doesn’t list the third, fifth or tenth most important commandment but clearly states the second. If you are one of the folks that said family and God for number one, you were in the ballpark. In Matthew 22:37, Christ tells us that we should first love our God with all our heart, soul and strength. But almost in the same breath, He adamantly expresses the second most important decision He desires to see us make; Jesus tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves. Therein lies the blessing of pastoring The Sparrow’s Nest Mission Church. Daily, our Father gives us opportunity to care for the sick, clothe the naked and feed the hungry (Matthew 23:33), expressing love for these “neighbors” in tangible ways. I invite you to come and offer worship to God as we serve together as the hands and feet of Christ. So neighbor, welcome to The Sparrow’s Nest! My wife, Annaliese, sons, Christian and Caleb, and I look forward to the opportunity to know you and love you with the love of the Lord. Joyfully serving our Savior, Earl
